Correlation Between Six Minute Walk Test And Respiratory Muscle Weakness In Chronic Heart Failure Patients Associated With Atrial Fibrillation
ملخص البحث
Background: Chronic heart failure is commonly associated with inspiratory muscle weakness and reduced functional capacity. However, few studies have investigated the risk factors for inspiratory and expiratory muscle weakness and its correlation with six-minute walk distance (6MWT) in chronic heart failure patients associated with atrial fibrillation. Methods: Fifty male cardiac patients were recruited in this study from the National Heart Institute Outpatient Clinic and Ainshams University Hospital Cardiology Department, aged from 40 to 55 years old. All of them underwent 6-minute walk test and maximum respiratory pressure measurement. Results: there were a significant linear positive moderate correlation between 6MWT maximal inspiratory pressure (PImax) and maximal expiratory pressure (PEmax) in patients with heart failure associated with atrial fibrillation with significant level p =.000 with PImax and p= <0.001 with PEmax. Conclusion: there was a moderate correlation between 6MWT and PImax & PEmax ,and they are suitable to be used as risk stratification for functional work capacity in patients with chronic heart failure associated with atrial fibrillation.
